Tell Them Again Words and Music by Bob Padgett November 8, 2005—Stony Brook, New York ©2005 Clamchop Creative Studio Tell them the story of the disciples on the sea How they feared for their lives that gloomy day Tell them the tale of how He walked upon the waves, So they’ll never forget the storm obeyed Tell them the story of that little Sammy boy How he served in the temple day and night Tell them the tale of how he heard the voice of God, So they’ll strain to hear Him call them to the Light refrain: Tell them, tell them, tell them again Tell them, tell them again So they’ll never, never, never forget Tell them Tell them the story of the girl from Bethany How she bathed Him in perfume that fateful week Tell them the tale of how she hung upon His words, So they’ll find their truest calling at His feet Tell them the story of the son who walked away How he counted father dead so he could roam Tell them the tale about his Daddy’s open arms, So they’ll always know it’s safe to come back home refrain Tell them the story of the monster in his chains How the haunter of the graves was haunted too Tell them the tale of how He drove that Legion out So they’ll never forget they can be free Tell them the story of Mary at the Tomb Of her desolation, loneliness, her strife Tell them the tale of how He startled her by name So they’ll never forget He is alive refrain

This Is Not It Words and Music by Bob Padgett September 4-12, 2005—Stony Brook, NY ©2005 Clamchop Creative Studio For the victims of, and all those affected by, Hurricane Katrina... and for others This is not it …take a look around you Autumn’s death gets blanketed in white …take a look around you the Winter’s snow will water Summer’s grass This is not it …take a look around you The clouds that hide the sun they blow away …take a look around you The dark of night will fill with morning light Though this brings death and this is bitter cold and this is thick with clouds and this is full of dark This is not it. This is not it …take a look around you This pressure now tomorrow diamonds makes …take a look around you This solitude be swallowed up with Love This is not it …take a look around you This burden borne will make your back so strong …take a look around you Your heavy load be lifted one day Though this bears in so hard and this is lonely now and this is hard and this weighs you down This is not it. This is not it …take a look around you The walls, the windows, doors they pass away …take a look around you This may just be a stop along the way This is not it …take a look around you Surrender leads the way to victory …take a look around you This night will surely yield to mercies new …take a look around you That Day shall come when night will be no more Though this has doors closed tight and this feels far from Home and this makes you so weak and this chokes life with tears and this brings darkest night This is not it This is not it.

In Your Heart Words and Music by Bob Padgett April 18, 1997—Northport, NY ©1997 Clamchop Creative Studio Psalm 34:5, 2 John 4:19, 2 Corinthians 4:7, Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 I love the way you look at me the way your eyes grow wide— I know the grin that lights your face must match the grin on mine I love to take you in my arms and dance that Serenade, And when I hold you close, I feel I've found where I belong. refrain: But in your heart I see the Heart of God, In your eyes, I see reflected the Father's perfect love— And knowing all I treasure of who and what you are, The reason most I love you is that in your heart, I see the Heart of God. I love the girl inside of you that joins the boy in me Unlocking secret parables from shells along the shore I love the wondrous view I've found from seeing with your eyes— Adventure just around the bend and all around the world refrain I love to see the way His Hand has molded you— Your heart an open canvas to His touch— And now I've seen His love through you mold me too; Making three strands out of two. I love to come before the Lord, to join in one accord, In humble adoration of the One who set us free Though every day new beauties come that make me love you more, My heart's most drawn to yours because of who He is in you— refrain

hindsight/foresight Words and Music by Bob Padgett May 6, 2006—Stony Brook, NY ©2006 Clamchop Creative Studio for the dear ones who have been as children to me and for The Stony Brook School Class of 2006 Tell me, when it’s said and done Will the mark I leave be one A legacy, full of grace and truth And for my Father’s life be proof Will my life and all I do Echo something great and true Will something last from all these years When I leave them behind with tears Some days, when my strength is gone My eyelids fight against the dawn I think of all the good I could have done I wonder, were there battles won? So sorry, for when my actions paled, Compared to my intentions failed Do you wish I would longer stay Though it is time I go away A Blessing now I speak with love I call it down from up above The Freedom to be who you might be That you would stay forever free The sweet Peace to live life as you should And not look back to ask what could The true Life that will never end So I know we will meet again

All Around The Table Words and Music by Bob Padgett November, 2004—Stony Brook, NY ©2004 Clamchop Creative Studio for all the men of Hegeman, past, present, and future refrain: We’re all around the table now Gathered round with hungry eyes With hearts made full and smiles so wide Cause we’re all around the table now Oblong sphere moving down the field Just 4 downs for the touchdown yield So much longer till adults are healed Soon we’ll gather round the table now Homeward bound in bruised array But Mama’s ready to save the day That homemade cocoa soothes away All that keeps us from the table now Volunteers, with all their might Couches move—make it all just right Many hands, so the work is light Soon we’ll gather round the table now refrain Tables drawn from all four winds A procession of chairs down the stairway winds Feasting visions fill their minds— We’ll be soon around the table now Kings and Queens—their places saved, Straight flush in diamonds laid, A pair of aces at the head And we’re all around the table now Corn and spinach, broccoli spears Potatoes, stuffing, decked in tiers Mortimer comes out with cheers As we’re all around the table now refrain Though the feast’s precisely laid, It won’t be complete till the boys have prayed The anointed one—his blessing made... And we’re all around the table now. For a house so blessed, so free from strife, For all the Kens God put in my life, And most of all, my precious wife, We give thanks around the table now I lay down that night and shed a tear— What a home, what a family dear Have to wait another year Till we’re all around the table refrain

No One Knows 11:31
No One Knows Words and Music by Bob Padgett January 10, 2006 (music written in Fall 2005, lyrics and additional music in Dec. ‘05 & Jan. ‘06) Stony Brook, NY & Stroudsburg, PA ©2005-06 Clamchop Creative Studio No one knows what I’ve been going through I make it look so much better than it is I’m so convincing, my smile and my game face No one, no one knows… No one knows how hard this is for me They can’t relate to this battle in my heart They don’t even know the war is waging No one knows… But then a voice says to me Is there really nobody? There is One who has been here too Who has seen even harder times There is One who has been here One who’s been tempted Suffered worse than I… No one knows about the things I’ve done My firewalled concealments of the places I‘ve gone What would they think if they knew the truth No one, no one knows No one knows the dark side of me My Anakin keeps losin’ to the Vader within I do what I hate and don’t do what I want No one knows Still a voice says to me Is there really nobody? There is One who has been here too Who has seen even harder times There is One who has been here One who’s been tempted Suffered worse than I… No one cares about the heartache I bear They’re all just too busy in their own worlds to care They don’t give a rip—they don’t even dare No one cares… But still a voice says to me Is there really nobody? There is One who has been here too Who has seen even harder times There is One who has been here One who’s been tempted Suffered worse than I… So is it true, how the story goes That Another One cares—Another One knows? He’s been thru it all, and His faithfulness shows That Someone, Someone cares

Every Thorn Has Its Rose Words and Music by Bob Padgett November 15, 2005 - January 6, 2006 Stony Brook, NY & Stroudsburg, PA ©2005-06 Clamchop Creative Studio for Bud, Julie & Ellie, and all of us who have seen days of thorns “…my power is made perfect in weakness… when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Cor. 12:7-10 (NIV) In memory of Pat Hoffer and Jeff Adams I can see her shrinking in her bed The heartless cancer cells grow stronger in her head Why this helpless state, and why no cure to show Every thorn has its rose, you know Now the pain is gone, forever safe at Home- Every thorn has its rose, you know I can see him in his final days Known on the hospice ward as one who always prays Where’s that brilliant mind, and where his energy Every thorn has its rose, you see Oh the lives he touched with faith and bold decree Every thorn has its rose, you see I can see Him standing on that Hill He bears a load of grief cause it’s His Father’s will Where’s His royal robe, and what’s this crown I see Every thorn has its Rose, you see Oh the pain You bore but what that did for me- Every thorn has its Rose, you see

To Be Loved By You Words and Music by Bob Padgett April, 2002—Stony Brook, NY ©2002 Clamchop Creative Studio for Jeff and Anne Neuman - May 5, 2002 To be seen by you, to be seen alone by you To be known by you, to be known alone by you There's no greater joy all the world can give Than to be known by you To be near to you, to be near alone to you To be touched by you, to be touched alone by you There's no sweeter place, oh, in all this world Than to be touched by you In all this crazy world around us Through all the life that God will give There is no greater treasure, I seek no higher prize The Love I've always longed for is shining in your eyes Oh to talk with you, oh to talk alone with you And to walk with you, oh to walk alone with you There's no greater joy all the world can give Than to walk with you And to be with you, just to be alone with you To be held by you, to be held alone by you There's no sweeter place, oh, in all this world Than to be held by you In all this crazy world around us Through all the life that God will give There is no greater treasure, I seek no higher prize The Love I've always longed for is shining in your eyes To be needed by you, to be needed alone by you And to be loved by you, to be loved alone by You

Home 05:27
Home Words and Music by Bob Padgett January 24, 2006—Stony Brook, NY ©2006 Clamchop Creative Studio for Saskia, and the Dream He gave us There’s a house full of windows atop a peaceful hill With broad lawns aplenty and gardens there to till I can see a giant table there and smell a crackling fire And in that house full of windows my soul finds its desire There’s a house full of music in tune within and out The songs they soar throughout the rooms as though they breathe them out I can hear a grand piano a host of voices sings And in that house full of music my soul will find its wings I know we’ll get from here to there I know it will come to pass I know we’ll make it there There’s a house full of children who call us Mom and Dad With the love they missed the first time around in the Home they never had I can see them round that table warmed by the fire’s glow I can see them fill those broad lawns with games of catch and throw I can see them climb in bed with us they’ll never be alone And in that house full of children my heart will find its home

about

A note to my dear listeners:

From the inception of this CD, it has been Matt's and my desire that the album would be both a wonderful live CD that would capture the meaningful shared experiences of May 12, 2006, and yet also be a distinguished, studio-quality debut CD by which to share these songs. To this end, you will find that the album has evolved over the past several months into something of a Live/Studio hybrid. To those who were here on May 12, you may hear an instrument here and there that you didn't see on stage that night. Rebecca and I had some fun overdubbing additional background vocals (plus Becca Johnson's cameo on "Tell Them Again") at Third Strand; Matt's studio work on the keyboards and Rhodes certainly confirms that he should have been up there on stage with us. It is my earnest hope that this album will prove a compelling debut without losing the special flavor of that night that started all this. Thank you for listening, for cheering, for caring, for being fans with whom I am so honored to share my life.
